![]() Now there are phones that have good audio – LG has a mqa-compatible phone, Samsung the same – but they are rare. In many cases this results in a better reproduction, because the focus of the phone manufacturer is not on good audio, but on a working phone. ![]() The advantage of a solution like the Zorloo – and other headphones with built-in dac – is that the decoding and conversion no longer takes place in the phone, but in the dac you choose. We have chosen Roon and Tidal in this review. That is possible with Roon, Tidal or any other player with MQA capability. The player should also be able to handle MQA, of course. What really matters is that our dac-chip – an ESS Sabre mobile dac – can decode MQA. I've bought a lot of audio stuff over the past 18 months and the BTR5 feels like the best value by far.Zorloo gave us the Ztella with MQA. This has never actually happened, I may be being overly cautious. If I was going to use it like this regularly I would find a way to stick it to the back of my phone case as I think the device's weight and bulk may cause it to detach from the phone. Again it sounds great and functions how it should. When I want to listen to something that seems worth playing at a higher sample rate I use it as a usb dac and use UAPP to play music from Qobuz. It has a 3.5mm and a 2.5mm balanced socket. It has plenty of power for IEMs and most headphones. I bought it a year ago and use it daily until the battery runs out which is about 9 hours, it can be used while charging. I stream music to it from my phone using LDAC, not lossless or hi-res but it sounds great. I use a Fiio BTR5 for almost all my listening despite my intention to only use it while out and about. It can power low sensitivity IEMs to a volume louder than I listen. Works perfectly, a bargain at £24gbp on Amazon. Mine uses a Cirrus Logic dac chip, it is the Meizu masterhifi dongle. I have a usb dac that looks almost identical. I thought I had not heard of the Zorloo but I remembered I saw a review of it on YouTube.
